Why Most Wellness Routines Don’t Stick — And What to Build Instead

Wellness shouldn’t collapse when life gets messy. Here’s how to build health from the ground up—no hacks required.

Have you ever watched the Studio McGee design videos on YouTube? Just me?

These videos give me dreams for a home I didn’t even know were possible before watching.

Think: the most beautiful homes, designed to perfection. Shea McGee walks through every intentional decision—from archways that draw the eye down a hallway to a stove imported from France.

I know this isn’t everyone’s go-to downtime content, but I think we can all agree—there’s something really satisfying about watching something beautiful come together. (There's a reason HGTV is still alive and well.)

But here’s what we never see in those Studio McGee videos: the pouring of the foundation.

There’s no aesthetic music playing over sweaty workers smoothing gooey gray sludge. No cinematic lighting as they level the concrete or dig trenches for plumbing.

And yet—without this step, the entire house would crumble.

So here’s the metaphor I want to offer you:

The foundation is your “why.” The tile, fixtures, and paint colors? Those are your “practices.”

Now think about how most women are taught to care for their bodies.

Swipe through a few wellness reels, and you’ll hear it all:

Eat 40g of protein at every meal

Just lift weights

Just get 10,000 steps

Just cut out carbs

Just drink 3L of water

Apparently we “just” need to do a whole lot of things.

But how many of us actually implement these things? And how many of us keep them going through vacations, grief, postpartum, long work hours, or stressful seasons of life?

The truth is—these tips are like countertops and backsplash. They look good on paper, but without the concrete foundation underneath, they don’t last.

And let’s be real: the why isn’t sexy.
It’s not filmed. It doesn’t go viral.
But it’s what holds you when life gets messy.

The flood of wellness information we scroll through each day leaves so many women feeling overwhelmed and quietly whispering: “my body is broken.”

That’s where coaching changes everything.

Because when you invest in a coach, you’re not just handed another list of things to do.
You’re guided through discovering the why behind your choices—your beliefs, your patterns, your body’s actual needs.

You’re laying a foundation.

You’re building a home that lasts—one with soundproof walls that block out wellness noise and a floorplan designed around your unique life and body.

And from that place, you build freedom.

You listen to your body and trust what it’s telling you.
You create rhythms that flex with your life instead of falling apart during hard seasons.

You build something that can weather the storm.

This isn’t about hacks. It’s about transformation.

So let me ask you:

Do you feel like you’re constantly collecting practices without really knowing why?
And if you have been implementing… does it feel like something that could last through life’s inevitable curveballs?

If you’re tired of building houses that crumble—maybe it’s time to pour the concrete.
